Senior Automation Engineer L2/L3

we are currently seeking an automation engineer or senior automation engineer to join our power utilities team in brisbane. this role offers the opportunity to become a key contributor within a highly experienced engineering team, delivering advanced automation and secondary systems solutions.

• work on complex power and infrastructure projects across substations, generation and control systems
• contribute to full lifecycle scada and automation design, from concept through to commissioning
• collaborate with experienced engineers in a highly technical secondary systems team
• exposure to diverse technologies including plcs, rtus and iec environments
• opportunity to mentor junior engineers and step into design leadership responsibilities
• strong pipeline of utilities work offering long-term career stability

• deliver scada and control system design including plc, rtu, hmi and ied integration
• develop automation logic and control schemes for power and industrial applications
• coordinate design activities across disciplines and manage interfaces with project stakeholders
• support testing, commissioning and site activities as required
• provide technical input to tenders, business development and project delivery teams
• review and verify engineering designs for technical accuracy and compliance
• mentor junior engineers and contribute to continuous improvement in engineering practices

• degree-qualified in electrical, electronics or computer systems engineering
• proven experience in scada and automation engineering within utilities, power or industrial environments
• strong background in plc/rtu programming and scada platforms (e.g. citect, wonderware, microscada)
• knowledge of scada protocols and standards (e.g. modbus, dnp3, iec )
• experience in control system design from concept to commissioning
• strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
• ability to work independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams
