About the Division

The Business Services Division leads the provision of quality Academy corporate support services and functions (including procurement, risk, performance reporting, human resources and culture architecture, finance, facilities management, information and audio-visual technology and risk management) which enable successful operation of the Academy. In addition, the Business Services Division is responsible for the oversight, delivery and reporting of the compliance and audit obligations required of a statutory authority.  

About the Team

The Compliance, Procurement and Reporting unit provides strategic oversight, coordination and enterprise process of the Academy's compliance, risk, internal program governance, procurement and performance reporting, including evaluation of the Academy's programs and performance. By maintaining robust frameworks aligned to Victorian Public Service standards and Department of Education policies, the Compliance, Procurement and Reporting team ensures all programs and services are delivered with quality, accountability and transparency.

The Reporting team is responsible for measuring, evaluating and reporting on the Academy's impact. The team is responsible for the management of all participant and evaluation data as well as the production of high-quality and time sensitive outputs for the Academy's government performance reporting requirements.

This includes, but is not limited to, performance data on professional learning programs and participant demographics, pathways, public awareness of and perceptions of teachers and leaders, equity of access, facility utilisation and other focus areas related to Academy legislated objectives and functions. The remit also includes managing ethics clearances, and oversight of research and evaluation contracts where applicable.

About the Role

The Senior Data Analyst leads data analysis, reporting and insight generation to support organisational performance and strategic decision-making. This role ensures the generation of accurate, timely and fit for purpose evidence and insights that underpin the Academy's performance reporting function.

The responsibilities of the Senior Data Analyst, Reporting include:

  • leading and undertaking end-to-end data analysis and developing insights to inform decision-making
  • designing and maintaining dashboards and reporting tools
  • ensuring data quality, integrity and consistency across systems
  • providing advice to internal and external stakeholders on data interpretation, data use and general performance reporting
  • supporting the Academy's evaluation and research activities through advanced analysis
  • contributing to standards, processes and continuous improvement.

Capabilities

  • Demonstrated experience in data analysis, analytical and data interpretation, data reporting and visualisations, and with data tools and platforms (e.g. Excel, Power BI or similar)
  • Demonstrated experience in translating complex data into clear insights and advice
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex data analysis activities as part of larger evaluation or performance reporting projects
  • Highly developed communication, collaboration, stakeholder engagement and influencing skills
  • Demonstrated initiative in improving data quality, reporting processes and data systems
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capability
  • Strong project management capability, organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

  • Relevant experience or tertiary qualification in data analytics/data science, research, and/or evaluation is mandatory.
  • Demonstrated experience in evaluation methodologies, literature reviews, systems thinking and research into professional learning is desirable.
