Toxic Torts - Junior Lawyer

Due to growth of our Adelaide Toxic Torts team, we're seeking a Lawyer with between 1-3 years' PQE to work alongside Caroline Knight.

The Role

Due to growth of our Adelaide Toxic Torts team, a rare and exciting opportunity has arisen for a Junior Lawyer (1-3 years’ PQE) to support a highly regarded Partner, Caroline Knight. In this role you will be working on a range matters involving dust diseases litigation for a number of our national and international clients.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Manage a varied caseload of dust disease claims under supervision
  • Draft defences, statements of claim, evidence summaries, liability analyses and strategic advice
  • Assess exposure histories and interrogate causation issues using expert evidence
  • Prepare briefs to counsel and liaise with experts
  • Assist with mediations, contribution negotiations and multi‑party litigation strategy
  • Analyse and prosecute contribution claims against employers, insurers, builders and other commercial entities

Who We Are Looking For

The successful candidate will have the following:

  • Between 1-3 years’ PQE in insurance litigation, personal injury defence or commercial disputes
  • Strong analytical skills and confidence working with technical medical evidence
  • Excellent drafting and attention to detail
  • Commercial mindset with the ability to balance legal and insurer objectives
  • Professionalism and maturity when dealing with sensitive claimant circumstances
