Software Engineer

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced C#/.NET Software Engineer to join a leading global software vendor specialising in enterprise mining technology, based at its Brisbane CBD headquarters.

Our client develops sophisticated enterprise software for mine planning, scheduling and asset management, integrating physical mining operations with financial modelling to optimise mine profitability and lifecycle costs.

You will join a team responsible for developing and enhancing an established, globally recognised mining financial modelling solution used for budgeting, forecasting, cost modelling and life-of-mine planning.

The product is currently a C#/WPF-based desktop application , supported by backend services hosted in Microsoft Azure . Your initial focus will be on developing, maintaining and enhancing the existing desktop application and its associated backend services.

Looking ahead, the product has an exciting modernisation roadmap , including the evolution towards a modern, browser-based application using ReactJS , alongside the introduction of AI-powered functionality.

This presents an opportunity to work with an established, sophisticated enterprise software product while contributing to its future technology direction.

You will work within a collaborative Agile software development environment, with a strong focus on C#/.NET, REST APIs, WPF and Microsoft Azure technologies.

The team also embraces AI-assisted software development tools to improve engineering productivity, code quality and testing.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain high-quality software using C# and .NET .
• Contribute to the ongoing development and enhancement of an established WPF-based desktop application .
• Develop, enhance and integrate RESTful APIs and backend services hosted in Microsoft Azure.
• Undertake software analysis, debugging, testing and performance optimisation across desktop and backend components.
• Contribute to the longer-term modernisation of the application, including its planned evolution towards a ReactJS-based web interface .
• Work within a heavily Microsoft Azure-based development environment.
• Contribute to technical documentation, code quality and continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with software engineers and stakeholders in an Agile development environment.

About You

To be successful, you will ideally have:

• 5+ years of commercial C#/.NET software development experience .
• Strong hands-on experience designing, developing and integrating RESTful APIs .
• Experience developing and maintaining complex commercial software applications.
• Experience developing software using Microsoft Azure services and technologies .
• Experience with Azure DevOps , including CI/CD pipelines , automated builds, testing and deployments.
• Sound understanding of software engineering principles, object-oriented design and maintainable code.
• Experience with SQL Server and relational databases.
• Experience working in an Agile software development environment.
• Strong problem-solving, debugging and analytical skills.
• Good written and verbal communication skills and a collaborative approach to software development.
• An interest in contributing to the modernisation of established software products and evolving technologies.

Highly Regarded

• Commercial experience developing or maintaining WPF desktop applications.
• Experience with ReactJS and JavaScript , particularly in the context of modern web application development.
• Experience developing cloud-native services using Azure Functions or Azure App Services .
• Experience with Entity Framework Core and SQL Server data access patterns.
• Experience modernising established software products or transitioning desktop applications to browser-based solutions.
• Experience developing complex enterprise or financial software applications.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted software development tools.
• Exposure to mining software or mining industry operations.
